I smiled widely as I listened to the woman with the "head butting" cat. I had a long-haired female tortoiseshell who did almost the same thing, only she insisted on snuggling into the crook of my left arm. She had a highly ritualized bedtime routine that started the day she came home with me at 5 weeks old and continued until her last night, 21 years later. She also lost her hearing in the last few years of her life, and the crying was insufferable! But never did I make her change her ritual; it was just the way it was. All I can say to the woman Jasmine lives with is to enjoy her while she is still here.
