Using A Cat As A “Snake Repellant?”

Dr. Gary Weitzman , President and Chief Executive Officer of The Washington Animal Rescue League meets a listener who just moved to a wooded area with lots of snakes and was wondering if getting an “outdoor” cat as a snake “repellant.” is a good idea. And a bulldog’s human companion would like to introduce a new kitten to the household and is seeking advice on the best approach.

Finally the story of a cat loving foreign-service worker in Rabat, Morocco; he and his wife have acted as an impromptu cat shelter during their time there and have 20 domestic felines in and around their home. They are preparing to return to the U.S. and are considering bringing some of the cats back but doesn’t know what the regulations are.

It is true that cat and snake are enemy but I do not think that the latter is a good repellant. - Steven C Wyer
