The Deepwater Horizon accident in the Gulf of Mexico spilled about 200 million gallons of oil into the marine environment. A senior scientist at the National Wildlife Federation gives us an update on the spill’s effect on the region’s animal population.

As the oil continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico, scientists are still scrambling to understand how the disaster will affect the fish, turtles, birds and other animals that call the region home. We get an update from two conservationists who recently traveled to the Gulf, and hear how volunteers can help with the rescue efforts.
